We have been most fortunate to receive the loan of the nameplate and plaque from West Country Class locomotive 34034 "Honiton", which is now proudly mounted on the wall of our visitors centre. In time the fixings will be painted over and the display lit to show it off properly.
The SR West Country Class, also known as the Light Pacifics, were a fine class of locomotive used primarily across the West Country and along the busy Waterloo to Weymouth line. "Honiton" herself was one of these elegant engines, and we are delighted to have a piece of her history in our care.
If you have any photographs of 34034 working in the Yeovil area, we would love to hear from you.
